STD screening event to be held April 20 at Bryan County Health Department

The Bryan County Health Department will offer no cost, confidential STD screenings on April 20th as part of STD Awareness Month.

Both Bryan County Health Department locations are participating. Screenings will be available in the Pembroke clinic at 430 Ledford Street and the Richmond Hill clinic at 66 Capt. Matthew Freeman Drive.

About 1 in 5 people have a sexually transmitted disease. Left untreated, these STDs can cause serious health issues, affect fertility, and be passed along to partners.

The good news is that all STDs can be treated, and most can be cured. The first step is getting tested.

There is normally a fee for STD screenings, and appointments are usually required. However, there will be no out-of-pocket cost for the STD screenings at the Bryan County Health Department for one day only on April 20th from 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Appointments are available, but walk-ins are welcome.

Additional events will be held in other health department locations in the Coastal Health District during April. For a full list of events, visit coastalhealthdistrict.org.
