Maruti Suzuki Alto Std, LXi, and LXi CNG variants discontinued

Maruti Suzuki has silently discontinued three variants of its Alto hatchback. The brand has axed Std, LXi and LXi CNG variants from the Alto line-up. The Maruti Suzuki Alto hatchback is now offered in five variants, including Std (O), LXi (O), LXi (O) CNG, VXi and VXi Plus.
As the standard variant is discontinued, the Maruti Suzuki Alto price now starts at Rs 3.39 lakh. The only Alto LXi (O) CNG variant retails at Rs 5.03 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom.
At the heart, the Maruti Suzuki Alto is powered by an 800cc petrol engine, producing a power of 47 bhp and a torque of 69 Nm. The Alto CNG variant generates 40 bhp power and 60 Nm torque. A five-speed manual transmission is available as standard across the range.
As far as the interior is concerned, the Maruti Suzuki Alto comes equipped with a host of features, such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, keyless entry, reverse parking sensors, central locking, dual front airbags and front and rear cup holders.
Introduced in 2000, the Maruti Suzuki Alto is the brand’s best-selling car till date. The Maruti hatchback received a facelift in 2012 and has been around since then. Maruti Suzuki has sold around 43 lakh units of the Alto hatchback in India since its inception. The Alto had remained the most popular car constantly from the year 2005 to 2018 before it was replaced by the Maruti Dzire.
For July 2022, Maruti Suzuki is offering discounts of up to Rs 25,000 on Alto, Swift, Wagon-R, Dzire, Celerio, S-Presso, except the Ertiga facelift MPV.
