PUNE: Over 7.60 lakh students from Std V and Std VIII have applied for the scholarship examinations on July 20.
The examinations which will be held in 5,707 centres will be the first big exam conducted for such a large number of students by the Maharashtra State Council of Examination since the Teacher Eligibility Test scandal hit the department at the end of last year.
Smita Goud, who looks after the scholarship exams at the council, said, “The examination centres are decided by the block education officers depending upon the total number of students in each block and the adjoining schools which can accommodate them for the examination. They finalize it and send us the list which we approve. All the work for smooth conduct of the examination is being done as there are 7.60 lakh students appearing for the exam from all over the state.”
There will be one invigilator per 24 students who will be teachers for Stds IX to XII. If teachers in this group are unavailable, those from Stds V to VIII will invigilate if they are not involved in training students for the scholarship exams.
The districts will be get exam material by July 13 in a confidential manner and the concerned officials have the responsibility to take care of the material, a circular said.
