NAGPUR: Students of state board Std X have got a massive headstart over their CBSE counterparts, with results of the former being declared. Now SSC students can proceed with junior college admission formalities picking up top colleges, while CBSE kids may just have to settle for leftovers.
To understand the admission dynamics for Std XI, it is important to know the rules in place. All state board junior college admissions, for institutions within city limits, have to be mandatorily done through the online centralized admission process (CAP). Colleges located outside Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) jurisdiction can proceed with admissions in the old fashioned way wherein students simply walk-in and fill admission forms.
So, for colleges outside city limits the admission process literally starts from Saturday, under CAP there’s one more step to go.
Under the CAP, students have to fill two online forms — Part-1 and Part-2. Part-1 is basically where students register themselves as bona fide students. Part-2 is where they choose the junior colleges, preferred stream and even the admission quota (if applicable). The Part-2 process can start only after X results are declared because students have to enter marks as well.
A school principal said, “Now the Part-2 form can be filled up only by our state board SSC students as their results are out. Thankfully our kids will get to pick the top colleges first.”
The CAP committee is yet to announce the schedule for submission for Part-2 and other dates like declaration of merit lists etc. An official in the education department told TOI that it may take “two to three days” for the schedule to be made public.
Regardless of the “two to three days” needed, there possibility of CBSE X results being declared by then is very low. “As there is no implementation of attendance rules, many CBSE students, who are enrolled for competitive exams, shift to state board colleges,” said a principal.
As TOI had reported earlier, there are ample seats available in Nagpur city. So while a student may not get admission in a preferred college, it is guaranteed that he/she will get admission in some or the other college in Nagpur.
