Jamshedpur, Dec 21: Tarapore School hosted 17th annual Sports Day in the scenic Sumant Moolgaonkar Stadium in Telco with much grandeur and fervor.
Chief Guest for the occasion was Ashish Kumar, Head, Sports Tata Steel and CEO, Hockey Ace Foundation.
The day began with grand March Past led by the school’s leaders followed by students of classes IX-XII.
The event included drill performances by the students of the Kindergarten department and Stds. I and II. Students of classes III to V performed various Yogasanas to spread awareness about good health amongst the parents and students. The students of Stds. VI to VIII performed a drill on ‘Zerobics’ a delightful concoction of Zumba and Aerobics.
The students of Kg. to Std. II participated in fun-filled races which aided them to learn day-to-day activities like tying shoe-laces, packing bags, putting hair bands and ties, etc. A fun-filled race for parents was also organized which grabbed much attention.
The overall champions were the Garnet and Turquoise House and Garnet House won the March-past trophy. The best athlete of the year was awarded to Umesh Murmu and Ishita Pandey in the junior category and Rohit Tiu and Vedika Kumari were the winners in the senior category. School introduced a new category of award for the best Sportsperson of the year and the trophy was bagged by Vedika Kumari.
Meanwhile, six students of the school reached the national level in athletics, football, volleyball and handball this year. The school also received the opportunity to host the CISCE U19 Kabbadi for boys and CISCE U19 boxing championship at JRD Tata Sports complex.
All the winners were awarded medals and certificates.
