ORLANDO, Fla. — New reports released by the CDC show a continued increase in STD cases.
The CDC said that the 2021 data shows a rise in diseases such as chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis.
This new report reflects cases through the National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System (NNDSS) as of July 2022.
According to the new report, over 1.6 million total cases of chlamydia were reported in the United States last year.

The new data shows the rate of reported chlamydia increased by almost 3%, while the rate among men increased at about 5% and 0.6% among women.
The number of gonorrhea cases reported by the CDC in the United States was at almost 700,000.
The new data shows the rate of reported gonorrhea increased by 2.6%, while the rate among men increased by 4% and almost 49% among women.

The CDC said the total number of syphilis cases includes syphilis of all stages, including congenital syphilis.
Over 170,000 cases of syphilis were reported in the United States, according to the CDC.
The new data shows the rate of reported gonorrhea increased by 27.5%, while the rate among men increased by 19% and almost 49% among women.

More data is being processed throughout the fall of 2022, the CDC said.
